In truth, I experience a chilling dejavu as six months ago, I published a write-up on ‘Top 5 ecommerce marketplace platforms.

Well, that was in the year 2015 and now, we have already stepped into another optimistic year. I, for one, would never support any biased move to idolize any particular ecommerce marketplace. But to tell you the truth, it is Admire ecommerce marketplace that is making its presence with its cauldron of amazing features.

And yes, the verdict is out! The team of Ecommercemix which has always been the fount of excellent products is behind Admire ecommerce marketplace platform. How we spend our money on ecommerce marketplace platforms is, of course, in proportion to how we earn some decent money. In other words, any marketplace platform which is not in the top 10 list is not worth purchasing.

Admire marketplace software

LAMP stands for Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP. Sometimes, instead of PHP, Thanks to this LAMP technology stack, Admire marketplace delivers high performance. Sellers and users can upload their products through multiple upload channels. Some of the features that will make you squeal are:

  • Dispute management system

  • Sponsored ads from sellers on product searches
  • Inbuilt product analytics for each seller account
  • Coupons and Gift Cards
  • Multi-language support
  • Built-in Theme Customization
  • Powerful email management
  • Multi-level affiliate system

This is nothing short of a god-for-send tool as updates are free for life. Well, did you know that Admire is available as an app on Apple iWatch? Yes, you read it right. Admire is now available as an app on wearable technology. To keep its customers abreast with key ecommerce breakthroughs and industry trends, Admire provides free access to Admire Knowledge Base and its blog. Also, Admire is reasonably priced and charges zero transaction fee.

Certainly, there aren’t any cons as of now. So, what are you waiting for? Grab your marketplace and enjoy the ease of doing business.

Bigcommerce marketplace

Bigcommerce has an assortment of built-in features such as abandoned cart saver, SEO optimization, email marketing, Google trusted stores integration, email marketing, integrated blog etc. Registered premium sellers cherish the opportunity of selling various types of items that include both tangible and intangible ones. Thanks to the presence of 65 payment gateways, secure transactions are always on the menu. There is an endearing feature called Bigcommerce University where users educate themselves to carve a niche for themselves in the Ecommerce Empire. And yes, Bigcommerce also has umpteen shipping options.

Till 2015, Bigcommerce used to charge a transaction fee of 1.5%. From 2016 onwards, it no longer charges any transaction fees. However, the absence of a multi-level affiliate marketing system dwarfs its advantages. Also, the abandoned cart recovery software is not included in the $29.95 premium plan. Bigcommerce offers a trial version for just 15 days while Admire offers for as many as 30 days.

Magento marketplace

Unlike Bigcommerce, Magento marketplace has feature rich affiliate promotional channel. Affiliates can always keep their customers engaged with email marketing campaigns. Apart from this, Magento provides insights on sales. For instance, sales generated through affiliate links can be analyzed and compared. Also, both banner ads and text ads can be selected, used and subsequently promoted on various channels. Here are a few features that make Magento to rank in Top 10:

Magento has always been costly and so is now. For many ecommerce sellers, this isn’t affordable. Also, Magento is yet to enter into wearable technology while Admire had already made tremendous strides into wearable niche.

Shopify marketplace

Shopify marketplace platform comes with the caption Shopify is everything you need to sell anywhere. Perhaps, the caption couldn’t have been better. The best thing about Shopify is that it is completely integrated with as many as 70 external payment gateways that include both international and domestic players. Just like Admire marketplace, Shopify has a robust backend feature that often appeals to its customers. Other noteworthy features include Gift Coupons module, email marketing campaigning module, abandoned checkout recovery, Social Media integration etc. Shopify’s ‘Ecommerce University’ is the analogue of Admire’s ‘Knowledge Base.’

While Shopify boasts of simple theme customization, in truth, it isn’t that easy. Shopify leverages a custom template language called ‘liquid.’ This is proving to be a pain in the neck for users who try their hands at editing themes. Also, the transaction fee levied is up to 2% and of course, this is dependent on the plan. Many cheaper plans are not feature rich and often lack in some important features such as abandoned checkout recovery, real-time carrier shipping, professional store reporting etc. Shopify offers a trial version for just 14 days while Admire offers it for 30 days.

Volusion boasts of advanced optimization features and state of the art SEO. Volusion has excellent management tools that let you manage your inventory and product variants such as size, color, and style. Also, its social media integration appears to be seamless and some of the popular payment gateways that Volusion supports are PayPal,, Stripe.js etc. There are few tutorials that help you run your marketplace site on Volusion. Apart from these features, Volusion offers deal of the day, customer product reviews, coupons, festive discounts etc. All registered users can freely access its ecommerce blog that is replete with proven ecommerce tips and tricks.

Unlike Admire marketplace, Volusion doesn’t have 70 payment gateways. Moreover, all its plans come with limited bandwidth. If a user crosses the bandwidth limit, Volusion charges a fee of $7 for each gigabyte that goes over. This is expensive. Its cheaper plans just like Shopify aren’t feature rich. The trial version of Volusion comes with duration of just 14 days thereby leaving not much time for sellers to come to a decision.

3dcart markets itself as the most powerful ecommerce platform to build an online store. It is easy to use and customize. It lets you build an online store in minutes. Unlike Shopify, 3dcart doesn’t sneak-in any transaction fees. Even if you are using its trial version, 3dcart offers round the clock technical support. Like Admire ecommerce marketplace, 3dcart takes care of security of transactions very seriously.

It is thus a PCI ecommerce marketplace solution offering support to over 200 payment providers such as PayPal, Checkout By Amazon etc. It also takes care of SEO-friendly dynamics that include Custom URLs, link titles and more. Quite a majority of 3dcart themes are built in HTML5 markup language and hence, all the themes are responsive across several devices. There is something endearing to 3dcart- 3dcart offers a built-in point of sale system (POS). Just for your information, a built-in Point of Sale system lets you sell in person. Some of the other noteworthy features include:

  • Email Newsletters

3dcart charges $5 for each gigabyte over your designated bandwidth. This is an expensive proposition. Unlike Admire marketplace, 3dcart is not available as an app on wearable devices. 3dcart’s cheaper plans limit a few ‘must have’ features. Unlike Admire and Magento marketplace platforms, 3dcart’s trial version comes with duration of 15 days.

Core Commerce

In a strange coincidence, both Core Commerce and Admire have the same name for their compendium of knowledge- ‘Knowledge Base.’ And yes, you get access to its white papers and blog. With each and every passing year, Core Commerce is coming up with tons and tons of features and upgrades. Just like Admire marketplace, all upgrades are free.

A few customers who shifted from CoreCommerce to Admire said that CoreCommerce doesn’t integrate well with external applications. Also, its bandwidth and storage space aren’t praiseworthy. Monthly plans range from $39.99 to $199.99, a little above the average pricing.

Open Cart

Open Cart, which was launched in 2008, has been marketing itself as a turn-key ready “out of the box” shopping cart solution. Open Cart has a unique feature that adds a distinctive flavor to its customer support team. Whenever customer support team is busy, you may just leave a message and receive a callback. Open Cart doesn’t charge any fees on its transactions. Its seller and customer dashboards are user-friendly and 100% responsive. While Open Cart usually runs on a robust Apache server, the website claims that Open Cart can run virtually on any server. Some features that lend beauty to this marketplace are:

  • Automatic Image Resizing
  • Discount Coupon System
  • Error Logging
  • Downloadable Products
  • PCI Compliant
  • Templates and Themes
  • Multi-currency module
  • Multi-language plugin
  • Excellent Documentation
  • Automatic Image Resizing
  • Sales Reports

Despite the claims that Open Cart scripts are quick, its native scripts are slow. Caching of customer requests has always been its area of concern. Also, customization is tedious and time taking. Source code often has to be changed and customers who aren’t tech-savvy may have to face a few serious issues.

Getsy Clone script

This is one of the WOW marketplaces that is jam-packed with features such as Integrated Translation Management console, Improved Security, Endless Scrolling, Built-in Email notifications management etc. Getsy lets its users to do away with any redundant data. Duplicate content is filtered and hence, database is always in a consistent state. Getsy captures current prices and displays them in the upper right corner of each and every product. Getsy marketplace is highly scalable and outperforms its competitors in terms of its remarkable scalability. Also, its SEO centered system lets you compete on a global scale. Thanks to its built-in smart product browsing and smart search features, checking the status-quo of availability of products in all the available categories and sub-categories is just a matter of seconds. Getsy is also reasonably priced just like its nearest competitor-Admire. Some other features of Getsy include:

  • Tags to join the buzz
  • Social Media Integration
  • Multiple Shipping options
  • Optional Account Verification Emails
  • Module Based system
  • MemCached and APC Support
  • Mention Users for More Exposure
  • Groups and Permissions Facility
  • Automated Commission Payout
  • Built-in Customer Management System

Getsy has too many features and this is a disadvantage as users seem to lose their way in Getsy’s sea of features. Navigation from marketplace script page to another is confusing to its users. Also, Getsy is not available as an app on wearable devices.

LemonStand marketplace

I have always been an ardent admirer of LemonStand blog- A Better Lemonade Stand. Its Ecommerce Incubator black books are highly informative and insightful. LemonStand marketplace is scalable and hence, it works for any type of business and size. The fact that almost every payment gateway perfectly integrates with LemonStand is a testimony to its claim of ‘seamless integration’. In addition to its strong multi-app integration with a majority of third party providers, a unique feature called ‘recurring bill’ adds sheen to this marketplace. Email marketing, social media login and checkout features are noteworthy.

LemonStand is overly priced and hence, it is not an ideal marketplace solution for small shops. Also, there is a limit on the number of orders that can be completed per month. The number stands at 5000 orders per month. LemonStand marketplace stills need a lot of refinement in terms of themes and responsive designs as well.

The Bottom-line

While many marketplace vendors are trying to etch their names in the top 10, let me conclude with a twinkle in my eye that it is undoubtedly Admire ecommerce marketplace that leads the pack. Admire is truly admirable!
